Michael Laverty 25th & 26th 3rd & 2nd

The fifth International Supercross at the Belfast Odyssey arena provided the setting for the Irish launch of the all-new Monster MK1.

For the first time, Mini Bike racing would feature in this spectacular Events 22 production – and the public loved it.

Pro- Celebrity came together to form a star studded line up for what turned out to be one of the highlights of the weekend.

Two Soap stars, a mix of Moto GP , BSB and Supermoto hero’s, an ex World Motocross Champion, and a sprinkling of Media wannabe’s and the start gate was buzzing.

Riding for Monster Ireland, British Supersport racer, Michael Laverty, and the Road racer with more wins than just about everyone else put together in 2005, Ryan Farquhar. “Did you see me blitz the holeshot” quipped Ryan who managed to get himself upside-down on more than one occasion during the race.

Friday night, Ryan blitzed the holeshot, leaving the competition on the gate, whilst Michael came back from a crash that left him at the back of the pack to steal third at the finish.

Saturday night, and the game was getting personal, Michael was up for the win!

As the gate dropped, it was Laverty who lead the pack over the first table top, and continued to do so until ex World Motocross champ, Jamie Dobb used his vast Supercross experience to make a pass on the final lap.

“I think it must have been the jet lag” laughed Michael, who landed from Thailand on Friday afternoon, “Man that little bike is class, next year I will win because I will have my own Monster to practice on.

So there you have it, two moto’s and two podium results for Monster competition mini bikes
